Received Emails

Of the roughly 28,000 messages I received, about half were addressed to me while about a quarter had me in CC. Most messages sent to me were sent only to me, while I was often one of several other recipients when added in CC. People get too excited with their CCs.

Inbox Message Size and Length

Among my top five most-frequent senders, the size of the message is usually inversely proportional to the number of words in it. I interpret this as some senders communicate more in attachments or external links (e.g. Google Docs) than in the actual body of the message.

Most Frequent Senders

Colleagues who sent me the most messages aligned almost perfectly with the team leads I've worked with.

Monthly Trends

I received the most emails in Augusts and Octobers. However, in Marches and Junes, I receive far more messages than I send (almost 4 times as many).

Length Distribution

I received messages of mainly 0-400 words, with a slight ebb in quantity of emails in the 100-200 word range (this includes message history in each email, so the actual word count that would have been typed per message is much lower). Emails that I sent were more evenly varied in terms of word count.

Sent Messages and Threads

Over the nearly 7,000 emails I sent, 90% were part of a thread (either someone responded to an email I sent, or I responded to someone's email). However, the bulk of my threads were between 1 and 4 exchanges long; longer conversations happened much less often.
